In recent years, I have started incorporating more fluid, intuitive movement and pandiculation into my practice. This non-linear approach has evolved into a style of movement that feels more somatic.
"Somatic" comes from the Greek word sōma, meaning "body." In yoga and movement practices, somatic refers to focusing on how movement feels rather than how it looks.
All forms of asana-based yoga practice are inherently somatic. However, to distinguish this from my alignment-focused, therapeutic work with Anusara Yoga, I use the term Somatic Yoga to highlight the focus on sensing, feeling, and being fully present in the body.
My studies with fascia experts on maintaining healthy, elastic, hydrated, and lubricated fascia led me to develop this type of practice. Through my own explorations, I discovered how to make my practice more fluid, nourishing, and for my tissues.
For about eight years, I lived with chronic pain—my soft tissues felt dry, aching, sore, and tight. This way of moving became part of my healing journey. Today, I am free of chronic pain, and I would love to share this practice with you. It will also feature in our morning classes during my upcoming Women's Holistic Self-Care Training.
Join me for one hour of fluid, intuitive movement, winding down to Savasana. Then, sip a cup of tea while I share more about this unique training for women. If you can't join me live, sign up to receive the recording.

"Somatic Yoga Flow is soft and slow, inviting you to listen to your body through fluid movement. Explore how your body feels with intuitive movement and non-linear yoga. Developing sensitivity to sensation cultivates interoception—your capacity to sense yourself from within. By consciously tuning into physical sensations, the insula—a part of the brain—processes this input, integrating it with emotions and thoughts. This deepens self-awareness, enhances emotional regulation, and increases body awareness.
In this style of practice, you follow what feels nourishing and needed as your body unwinds and you listen. You will leave feeling softer, stronger, and more connected to your body’s innate wisdom."
